The Mermaid Museum
The Mermaid Museum opened its doors at 4 Jefferson St, Berlin, MD 21811, on the banks of the Chesapeake Bay. The museum’s collections include artifacts associated with mermaids and the creatures who live in the ocean. You can even buy mermaid tails at the museum’s gift shop. The Mermaid Museum is a self-funded, woman-led project dedicated to the preservation of mermaids. Its exhibits feature about a dozen artifacts. The displays are accompanied by educational materials. Some of the exhibits on display include a life-size carved stone merkacht, a dive helmet from Pearl Harbor, and a 200-year-old wooden mermaid carving. A timeline of alleged merscaping dates back to the late 1800s.
The museum has been in the works for ten years and has been a success. It’s located about 10 miles inland from Ocean City and contains a collection of rare mermaid fossils. The six walls of the mermaid museum feature historical occurrences from the first century C.E. to the present day. The Feejee Mermaid is a half-monkey, half-fish taxidermy model.
